VFA: Rice Exports Down 9.72 Pct Against 2011

Dak Lak Calls on Investors to Build Roasted and Instant Coffee Factories

February 23, 2012 (Vietnamica) –Dak Lak – the largest coffee growing province in Vietnam – has implemented a policy to limit coffee bean exports in order to encourage and promote well-processed coffee. In light of this, the province is calling on domestic and foreign investors to build roasted and instant coffee factories with capacities from 700 to 1,000 tons/per year respectively (VNS, Feb.15).

Vietnam’s February Coffee Loading to Rise as Prices Gain

February 15, 2012 (Vietnamica) — Vietnam’s coffee export loading in February is expected to rise to between 120,000-150,000 tons, or 2 million to 2.5 million 60-kg bags, as exporters cash in on price gains. Coffee exports plunged nearly 48 percent in January from a year ago to 112,000 tons because of the Tet new year festival and as farmers held back beans in the expectation of higher prices later.
