Bloomberg’s Survey: Vietnam’s Coffee Production to Reach 1.32 Mln Tons in 2011-2012 Crop

September 23, 2011 (Vietnamica) -  The Vietnamese coffee production may reach 1.32 million tons in 2011-2012 crop, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg survey of 12 traders, growers and exporters. That compares with 1.12 million tons, or 18.7 million, 60-kilogram bags, in the last crop, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture estimate. For 2011-2012, the USDA has forecast output of 1.24 million tons, which would be an all-time high, according to data stretching back to 1959.

Vietnam: Central Bank Added Liquidity by US$96 Mln on Sept 21

September 22, 2011 (Vietnamica) – The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) added liquidity to the banking system by injecting VND 2 trillion, or US$96 million, through open market operations, on Sept 21. The central bank provided commercial banks with VND10 trillion, or US$480 million, of 14-day loans at an interest rates of 14 percent per annum (NDH Money, Sept 21).
